Poses for Your Pelvic Floor (Part 2) with Deb Brownstein

In Part 1 of this workshop (Yogic Tools for Female Pelvic Floor Health), we discussed what commonly happens and why the pelvic floor muscles often end up feeling dysfunctional. We also began to think about the history of our pelvis through time and shared the status of our own pelvis, accepting that things change and have changed throughout the years. By allowing ourselves to be vulnerable together, we created a powerful community of women built on empowerment and an openness to move toward healing.
As yogis, we become accustomed to honoring the sacred seat of our practice in order to become mindful and aware of our own bodies, minds, and souls. Understanding how to align our actions with the mindful attention to our pelvic floor is the work of Part 2 of this workshop. Students will have the option to work through one, two, or three sequences being taught or to simply observe and take notes, depending on the status of their pelvic floor muscles. The practices will provide a sequence for maintaining pelvic muscle tone as well as maintaining focus on breath and movements, which can help hypotonic and hypertonic pelvic floor muscles.

We ALL are on a journey of healing in some form or another.

The reason you have to obtain clearance for this workshop is that students must have an idea of their status (anterior to posterior) of hypertonicity to hypotonicity of the pelvic floor muscles. This can be ascertained through self massage, consultation with a PT or urogynecologist (or similar practitioner), or simply knowing based on symptoms and understanding of the history of your pelvis and lifestyle. We will spend the first 15 minutes reviewing briefly some of those symptoms.

Students are encouraged to bring their favorite pair of high heels for a fun surprise at the end.
